TASTING NOTES
With a bright citrine yellow color and intense aroma, this Alvarinho presents notes of grapefruit, lime and light floral typical of the variety. In the mouth it is a wine with good structure and very fresh.
REGIONS
Originally demarcated in 1908, the Vinhos Verdes Regions extends throughout the northwest of Portugal, in the area traditionally know as Entre-Douro-e-Minho. Its Northern limits are the Minho River, which establises part of the border with Spain, to the South the Douro River and the mountains of Freita, Arada and Montemuro, to the East the mountains of Peneda, Gerês, Cabreira and Marão and to the West the Atlantic Ocean. In terms of geographical area it is the largest Demarcated Region in Portugal, and one of the largest in Europe, comprising about 34,000 hectares of vineyards and representing 15% of the country’s vineyards. The region is rich in water resources, the climate is mild and strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and the relief of the region (many mountains and valleys). This Atlantic influence, the soils mostly of granite origin, the mild climate and high rainfall, translate into the freshness, lightness and elegance of the wines of this regions.
WINEMAKING
The grapes were harvested at their optimal ripeness and carefully transported to the winery. There they were destemmed, crushed, and immediately pressed. After decanting, the wine was fermented in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature between 16-17ºC for 4 weeks.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
The perfect pairing with cheese, seafood and grilled fish. Serve at a temperature of 8-10ºC.
